Lead Maintenance - New York Water Tours

Overview:
New York Water Tours is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Maintenance to oversee and perform the maintenance and general upkeep of our fleet of 4 passenger vessels (ranging from 90’ to 120’, each with multiple decks). This leadership role is ideal for someone mechanically inclined, organized, and hands-on, with a strong background in general maintenance and team coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead day-to-day maintenance operations across all vessels

• Supervise and mentor maintenance staff and assign tasks as needed

• Coordinate and assist with the transport of equipment, supplies, and furnishings

• Oversee and participate in vessel renovations and repair projects

• Ensure proper use and care of power and hand tools

• Perform and direct painting tasks (using rollers and brushes)

• Monitor and maintain general vessel cleanliness and upkeep

• Manage dewatering of bilges and routine engine area cleaning

• Ensure rust prevention procedures are followed

• Oversee and complete finish work on interior and exterior surfaces

• Maintain carpets, outer decks, and all interior trim/finishings

• Maintain inventory of cleaning chemicals and supplies

• Support engineering staff with troubleshooting and repairs as needed

• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintenance schedules

• Perform additional tasks as needed to support operations and vessel readiness

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of hands-on maintenance experience (painting, cleaning, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.)

• Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred

• Must possess a valid driver’s license

• Must be able to report to multiple locations, including shipyards

• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50 lbs overhead

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

• Must be organized, detail-oriented, and proactive

Compensation:

• Competitive hourly wage

• Overtime paid at 1.5x after 40 hours
