Job Summary:
As a key member of our maintenance team, the Lead Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the continuous operation and reliability of the plant machinery and equipment. Your primary responsibility is to perform ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on industrial machines. Your expertise in machine maintenance and repair helps us minimize downtime, optimize productivity, and maintain the safety and efficiency of our production processes.
Responsibilities:
Machine Maintenance & Repair:
Continue to perform routine maintenance on all plant machinery and equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and preventing unplanned breakdowns.
Proactively identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, using your expertise to repair machinery efficiently and with minimal disruption to production.
Troubleshoot equipment failures, including motors, drives, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems, applying diagnostic tools to quickly identify root causes.
Execute repairs and part replacements as necessary, using the appropriate tools and techniques, and ensuring that all repairs meet safety and operational standards.
Preventive Maintenance:
Ensure adherence to established preventive maintenance schedules and procedures, helping to extend the lifespan of equipment and prevent unplanned downtime.
Monitor the performance of machinery and recommend necessary adjustments or improvements based on your ongoing assessments.
Document maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and part replacements, while maintaining an organized log for future reference.
Maintain communication with the production team to identify potential machine issues before they affect production timelines.
Safety & Compliance:
Continue to uphold the company’s safety protocols during all maintenance and repair activities, ensuring that lockout/tagout procedures are followed to prevent accidents.
Maintain an organized and clean workspace, adhering to safety standards, to mitigate hazards associated with maintenance work.
Stay current with industry regulations and best practices to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Collaboration & Reporting:
Continue working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and production staff to prioritize repair needs and coordinate machine downtime.
Regularly update the maintenance team and management on the status of ongoing repairs, as well as any critical issues affecting equipment performance.
Actively participate in team meetings and provide input on process improvements and maintenance strategies to improve operational efficiency.
Inventory & Parts Management:
Ensure the timely ordering of necessary parts and materials, managing inventory to prevent shortages that could impact maintenance timelines.
Perform periodic checks on spare parts and tools, maintaining accurate records of stock levels and usage.
Assist in evaluating parts quality and suggest alternative sources or improvements to reduce maintenance costs.
Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and government regulations (e.g., OSHA standards).
Properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
Promptly report any accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, or potential hazards to a supervisor.
Actively participate in all mandatory safety training, drills, and development programs to improve skills and knowledge.
Work cooperatively with team members to achieve production goals and departmental objectives.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
Monitor own work to ensure it meets quality specifications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in industrial maintenance preferred.
Advanced proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments for equipment maintenance and repair.
Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Ability to read, write, and understand basic English/Spanish to interpret/follow safety guidelines and work instructions.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.
Ability to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to [e.g., 50 pounds] regularly.
Ability to work in various environmental conditions common to a manufacturing facility (e.g., varying temperatures, noise levels, potential for dust/debris, wet floors).
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating equipment and handling supplies.
