Commercial Utilities, LLC is a rapidly expanding underground utility contractor located in Brooklyn, MD, with an immediate opening for a Class A Lead Mechanic.
EXPERIENCE
- 5 years minimum experience required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid driver’s license - CDL Class A or B a plus clean driving record
- All employees are subject to DOT drug testing and physical
- Experience with fleet maintenance software program a plus
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability
- Understand and execute verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work independently
- Possess excellent troubleshooting skills
- Basic computer skills a plus
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

- Maintain daily communication with driver’s/operators regarding pre and post trip inspection reports and make appropriate repairs
- Collaborate with outside vendors to order parts and troubleshoot repairs
- Work professionally and cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that goals are met
- Responsible for all phases of fleet and heavy equipment repair, including preventative maintenance
- Service and repair gasoline, and diesel engines; brakes – mechanical and air; front and rear suspensions; hydraulic repair; diagnose repair standard electrical failures; and tire repair
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration device
- Reading and understanding operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Record time spent, parts used, and repairs via electronic works orders as activities are completed
- Fabrication and welding skills a plus
- Experience in pneumatic and gas-powered small tool repair a plus
- Maintain a safe, clean, productive, and efficient work area as outlined in OSHA regulations
- Immediately bring abnormal instances of vehicle or equipment abuse from the field, or unsafe practices or conditions in the Shop to the attention of management
- Maintain punctuality in daily work times and road service calls
- Utilize time wisely for effective management of tasks, meeting completion deadlines established by management
- Must furnish your own standard tools
- Available to work evenings and weekends as required
- Other duties as assigned

- Moderate walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, reaching; heavy lifting and carrying; working outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes; working around moving objects and machinery with moving parts and high noise levels.
