Job Description - Lead Microgrid Controls Engineer

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Lead Microgrid Controls Engineer.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $91500.03 - $134200.04 a year.

What you’ll do:
Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services and Systems division is currently seeking a Lead Microgrid Controls Engineer to join our team. This position has the possibility of being located in any of our offices located across the U.S.
Position does require up to 35% travel.
Position Overview:
The Lead Microgrid Controls Engineer will lead the development, testing, and implementation of Microgrid control solutions consisting of Solar Photovoltaic (PV), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Diesel/Natural gas generators for our customers using Automation Controllers, HMI’s, Multi-function Protection Relays, and Data Concentrators from all major OEM’s.

In this function, you will:
• Create, modify, test, and deploy software for Automation Controllers and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s) for Microgrid applications.
• Follow customers specifications and internal specifications for project implementation.
• Select components and create bill of materials.
• Prepare submittal documentation for projects and meet with customers to discuss project requirements and review submittals.
• Provide sketches, mark-ups, and direction to Electrical Designers to develop project drawings.
• Prepare customer submittals, Sequence of Operation (SOO), and test procedures.
• Assist with factory testing and field start-ups as required.
• Be able to troubleshoot systems that are not functioning properly.
• Technical Support to the proposals team
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 7 years of experience in power distribution controls applications.
• Understanding of Microgrid operations.
• Understanding of DERs (PV, BESS, and Generators).
Preferred qualifications:
• Knowledge of Power Monitoring and Control Systems and associated protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC-61850)
• Knowledge/Experience with CODESYS Programming.
• Experience with generator/multi-source paralleling controls
• Experience with multi-function protection relays-based controls.
Skills:

• Possess and maintains an active and valid driver’s license.
• Available for travel & mobility 35% of time
• Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Advise customers on technical opportunities/issues.
