Lead Network Security Specialist Infrastructure

Job Summary

This senior technical role serves as a lead advisor responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise network security solutions using both current and emerging technologies. The position provides technical leadership across infrastructure security initiatives supporting critical systems and environments, translating business requirements into secure, scalable network architectures and operational processes.

The role leads engineering efforts, oversees deployments, enforces security standards, and ensures the resilience and compliance of enterprise infrastructure while mentoring technical teams and coordinating vendor resources.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents, service requests, and operational tasks in alignment with service level agreements.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and project teams to design and implement secure technical solutions.

• Plan, design, and execute infrastructure changes supporting enhancements and modernization initiatives.

• Maintain infrastructure technologies through structured change management processes.

• Lead technical implementation plans for network security technologies.

• Provide technical leadership for problem resolution and project execution.

• Coordinate contractors and functional teams to deliver infrastructure initiatives.

• Evaluate, test, and select security hardware and software solutions.

• Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to cybersecurity standards.

• Maintain strong security controls protecting critical systems and environments.

• Support special infrastructure initiatives as assigned.

• Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotations.

• Mentor and develop technical team members.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Masters degree with 5+ years of technical experience, or

• Bachelors degree with 8+ years of technical experience, or

• Associate degree with 12+ years of technical experience

• Minimum of 10 years supporting enterprise infrastructure environments

Technical Experience

• Enterprise experience across multiple domains including data center operations, disaster recovery, security compliance, infrastructure policies, and technical project coordination

• Hands-on configuration and support of enterprise networking equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, and network security platforms

• Experience managing next-generation firewall technologies and VPN implementations

Core Technical Skills

• Advanced expertise in network infrastructure, operations, and security architecture

• Deployment and administration of firewall platforms and secure connectivity solutions

• Knowledge of network security technologies including NAC, micro-segmentation, PKI, SAML, and identity systems

• Experience with authentication services such as RADIUS, TACACS+, LDAP, and SSO

• Ability to design and enforce security standards, policies, and procedures

• Cloud security architecture experience across major platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

• Familiarity with SD-WAN, encrypted transport technologies, and tunneling solutions

• Experience with network automation and DevOps practices

• Strong routing and switching expertise including BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, multicast, and traffic engineering

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with network troubleshooting and packet analysis tools

• High-availability application delivery and access management platforms

• Large-scale identity and access control system deployments

• Zero Trust security architecture experience

• Experience operating within regulated environments
