Job Description:

  • Verifies patient identity, confirms exam appropriateness, and screens for contraindications prior to performing any procedure.
  •  Explains procedures to patients, addressing questions and ensuring comfort throughout the exam process.
  • Performs a wide range of Nuclear Medicine procedures demonstrating proficiency with camera acquisition and computer processing, adapting to new technology, and helping develop the knowledge and competency of coworkers and students.
  • Adheres to all radiation safety and ALARA principles, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials.
  • Conducts daily quality control and equipment checks, including dose calibrator, well counter, and camera performance, and reports any issues promptly.
  • Assists in inventory control, including ordering, receiving and completing surveying process on all radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
  • Supports scheduling of personnel to provide adequate coverage during all hours of operation, using flexible staffing when appropriate.
  • Oversees quality control testing, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Serves as a resource to department staff and other team members as needed.
  • Performs team member orientation, training, and coaching, and provides input for performance evaluations.
  • Supports with maintaining and renewal of Radioactive Materials License (RAML).
  • Promotes a positive patient experience by ensuring service excellence, effective communication, and the delivery of timely, high-quality care by the team.
  • Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with physician orders, departmental protocols, and regulatory guidelines.

  • Performs a wide range of nuclear medicine imaging procedures, while ensuring image quality and diagnostic accuracy. 
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation, including patient doses, procedure notes, and radiopharmaceutical usage logs, in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to deal efficiently, ethically, and courteously with all patients, physicians, and hospital personnel [Required]

Education:

  • High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
  • Associate [Preferred]
  • Bachelor's [Preferred]
