Description
The Lead Pharmacist of The Pharmacy at Emory Winship Emory Midtown is a 9AM - 6PM Monday through Friday position with the requirement to staff at a minimum of 3 weeks per year. The Lead Pharmacist will serve as the Pharmacist in charge for the outpatient pharmacy and have direct oversight of day-to-day operations and compliance. In addition to day-to-day oversight, the lead pharmacist will serve on several multidisciplinary committees focusing on EHR/Epic optimization, safety, operations, workflow enhancement, etc and work closely with the retail/outpatient pharmacy manager and other lead pharmacists to advance practice.

Job Description:

With the focus on the patient as the primary beneficiary, provide leadership, clinical, educational, informational, and distribution functions in the assigned area(s).

Complies with The Joint Commission medication management standards and assists with survey readiness activities.

Educates on and implements efforts related to medication safety, proper handling, and security.

May conduct in-service programs for medical, pharmacy and nursing staff.

May act as the liaison between pharmacy services and other departments and/or participate on committee meetings as a department representative.

Proactively work to improve the medication process.

Utilize nomograms and other departmental guidelines when providing medication-related recommendations.

Performs chart audits and reconciles medication usage.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate of accredited school of pharmacy; licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Georgia.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.

A minimum of three years relevant pharmacy experience post school of pharmacy graduation.

Experience qualification met with successful completion of PGY-1 residency training or PGY-2 residency training.

Preferred: ASHP-ACCREDITED PGY1 residency and one year of hospital experience; OR ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency training.

Lead Pharmacist Salary:

$61.11-113.01/hour

The grade and salary of the position are based on specific criteria met within the qualifications of relevant experience, skills, performance and internal equity.

This position is eligible for shift differentials.

20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
