Job Description - Lead Pharmacy Technician (Shaw / Northview Pharmacy)
The Lead Pharmacy Technician will support the Senior Director of Pharmacy, in supervising the daily workflow, production, patient care, customer service, and task delegation to the pharmacy technician staff. This challenging and fast-paced role oversees the Pharmacy Technician staff and ensures proper use of established guidelines, policies & procedures, workflow efficiency, pharmacy best practices, staff productivity and associate/staff training. Perform duties of a pharmacy technician to support the team as needed. Work closely with the management team to enforce department policies & procedures, pharmacy laws, pharmacy best practices, and staff training.
This position will support our Merced Shaw and Merced Northview Pharmacy.
This position will require the availability to work Monday - Saturday 7:30am-7:00pm.
Compensation: $25.11 - $26.88 an hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide assistance to the pharmacist to support the delivery of safe, effective medication therapy.
Monitors and performs inventory of medication supplies and drug orders as needed as directed
by the Senior Director of Pharmacy.
Promotes pharmacy services through interceptions made with patients waiting in the clinic, and through communications with clinic team members to ensure our patients are taking advantages of our full pharmacy services.
Assists with self-audits in accordance with local, state, federal laws, 340B medications program requirements, HRSA and OPA regulations by assisting the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process.
Provides coverage to, and assist pharmacist with, daily pharmacy operations when needed.
Send all applications to pharmacy insurance plans, respond to all faxes and evaluate their contracts.
Oversee the training process of all pharmacy technician I, ensuring they abide by OFH pharmacy protocols and fulfill job description duties.
Works with Billing Department to match the EOB claims reconciliation to guarantee all claims are paid one by one. Follows up with insurance companies on rebilling of claims, if needed.
In the process of establishing a new pharmacy, responsible for setting up the medications, shelving, and the software, under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Director.
Assists Senior Director of Pharmacy in schedule creation for pharmacy technicians, receiving their schedule requests and rotating them in other pharmacies based on the need.
Collects, enters and updates patient specific data into pharmacy systems for prescription and billing processing, including but not limited to third party payers, delivery preferences, allergies, etc.
Processes prescriptions and ensures third party adjudication process is complete in accordance with organization procedures.
Assists patients at the cash register.
Interacts with all, including but not limited to, patients, external pharmacies and medical providers in a professional, friendly and courteous manner to optimize customer service and patient outcomes.
Call patients to remind them to pick up their medications and coordinate delivery.
Prepares and processes prior authorization, treatment authorization requests and other payment issues.
Assists in performing audit control functions.
Receives, stocks and stores incoming supplies, counts stock and enters data into management system(s).
Assist with the maintenance of all paperwork and filing as required.
Maintains orderly, clean environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
Lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Moving, lifting or pushing greater than 30 pounds should be done with assistance, as appropriate.
Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
High manual dexterity.
Reach above shoulder level, bend, squat, sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn, and good finger sensation.
Hearing adequate for phone work and clear speech for staff and patient communication.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually average.
Education/Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to successfully interact with patients, family members, and staff.
Ability to use electronic health records and pharmacy management software.
Interact collaboratively with medical care team and other staff members.
Collect data and participate in relevant reporting processes.
Familiarity with basic office programs (word, Excel…etc.).
Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred.
Valid California driver’s license, vehicle insurance, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Current unencumbered California pharmacy technician license.
Graduation from an accredited program for pharmacy technician, or fulfillment of requirements for licensure by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR Certification.
Three (3) years of experience as a pharmacy technician, preferred.
