Job Description - Lead Planning & Preconstruction Project Manager

In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. This state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA. Honeywell FM&T’s culture of integrity, commitment and continuous improvement enables them to deliver responsive, collaborative and innovative management and technology services and products that translate into cutting edge solutions to complex national security issues. 


Summary

Leads complex construction projects.  Ensures that integrated project management processes are aligned with industry best practices and are consistently applied across the business. 


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Steer large-scale construction projects from initiation to completion, ensuring all aspects are managed efficiently.  

  • Lead and mentor project teams, overseeing their work, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative and motivated environment.  

  • Provide strategic insight to projects, identifying opportunities, potential challenges, and innovative solutions to optimize outcomes.  

  • Oversee budget allocations, resource utilization, and expenses, ensuring projects adhere to financial constraints.  

  • Maintain transparent and effective communication with stakeholders, presenting project status, updates, and potential roadblocks.  

  • Utilize your experience to identify, assess, and manage project risks, adapting strategies to ensure successful project execution.  

  • Develop and manage complex project schedules, coordinating activities and ensuring alignment with project objectives.  

  • Deliver clear and concise project reports, highlighting progress, milestones, and areas requiring attention. 


You Must Have


  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field

  • 7 years of hands-on experience in Construction Management, Project Management, or a closely related role, demonstrated substantial leadership responsibilities 

  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time

  • United States Citizenship

  • Ability to work on-site as directed by management and as determined by the needs of the business

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)

We Value


  • Master's degree in construction management, project management, engineering, architecture, or related field. 

  • PMP certification or its equivalent.  

  • Expertise in Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).  

  • Experience collaborating with Federal Government clients.  

  • A background in a manufacturing or industrial environment.  

  • A track record of successfully managing projects up to or exceeding $100M. 

  • A solid understanding of project management principles and methodologies.  

  • Exceptional organizational skills with an innate ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.  

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving prowess.  

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.  

  • Proficiency in relevant software tools, encompassing project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
