Job Description - Lead Process Development Engineer

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible (but not limited) for the following:
Provide Materials and Process support for the development of new products from the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase to production release.
Conduct process qualification studies to verify that the selected materials/processes meet the customer end product requirements.
Generate process documentation and transfer new processes to our high-volume manufacturing sites in Asia.
Provide initial key feedback to the design teams on the manufacturability (DFM)of the new product.
Evaluate and establish process capabilities and take ownership for assembly yield during the development phase.
Provide the required process and equipment training for onsite technicians and offshore personnel as products are transferred to production.
Education & Experience

Minimum 5 yr. experience
BS/MS Engineering or equivalent degree.
Skills

The ideal candidate shall have the following abilities:

Knowledge of opto-electronics packaging design and related materials and processes.
Hands-on experience with various assembly equipment and processes, such as epoxy/eutectic attach, wire bonding, optical alignment, flip chip, and mechanical assembly.
Knowledgeable in the use of UV epoxies specifically for optical alignment processes.
Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills.
Work effectively with other members of Coherent Corp.
Able to work independently as an individual contributor and also in a team setting.
