Job Description - Lead Protective Service Officer

Job Description Summary:

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Supervisor to determine, and assign sufficient manpower to assure efficient operation of shift as observed.
  • Schedules days off to assure adequate coverage of critical posts as observed.
  • Monitors usage of earned time off and sick days to avoid abuse.
  • Submits accurate reports for time keeping and deployment justification records as observed.
  • Familiarizes himself/herself with all policies and procedures affecting the security function as observed.
  • Disseminates policies and procedures to subordinates in accordance with established procedures as observed.
  • Assures that all subordinates understand all policies and procedures affecting their functions as security officers as observed.
  • Prepares and conducts formal training sessions for shift members as appropriate.
  • Reviews all reports submitted by subordinates for clarity, legibility and accuracy prior to routing as observed.
  • Assists the Supervisor in the preparation and completion of accurate and timely employee evaluations.
  • Demonstrates effective and impartial handling of employee counseling sessions regarding performance.
  • Monitors the activities of all subordinates and immediately addresses unacceptable behavior.
  • Records all counseling sessions with subordinates (ie: positive or corrective) in the Administrative Counseling Register.
  • Participates in meetings with management to maximize efficiency of the department.
  • Attends improvement classes at MSMC or elsewhere to enhance efficiency as a lead.
  • Is familiar with all pertinent MSMC and Security/Safety Department Policies and Procedures and translates content into appropriate actions as observed by, or reported to, supervisor.
  • Follows all laws, statues, ordinances, on and off duty, as proven by a clear criminal and driving record.
  • Works as a cooperative member of the Security team.
  • Adheres to Customer Service Standards as defined by the Security and Safety Department.
  • Remains up to speed with MSMC and Security Department regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines as observed.

Qualifications

  • License/Registration/Certification

    • Security License preferred, Crisis Prevention Intervention training within first 90 days of employment, Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s license with a “good” driving history (i.e. no D.U.I. or felony traffic violations) and no more than 4 points.
  • Education

    • Highschool diploma required. College degree (AA) preferred.
  • Experience

    • 3+ Year of progressively responsible experience in security, military or law enforcement strongly preferred
