Description
Assists the Department Director in daily registration operations. Assigns tasks to registration specialists. Maintains registration specialist schedules and coordinates coverage as needed. Facilitates the performance of registrations within the department.
Reviews quality control logs as required; able to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and places service calls as needed. Performs audits and educates staff regarding corrections when required. Serves as trainer for registration staff.
Responsible for interacting with hospital staff and departments regarding patients, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolutions. Responsible and accountable for maintaining performance skills among the registration specialists.
Routinely works weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, overtime, and/or on an on-call/call-back status, as needed.
All RRH employees must perform their job responsibilities according to all RRH Hospital policies, as well as to accrediting organizations, federal and state regulation, and to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, as applicable.
Requirements
Job Qualifications:
§ Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
§ Personal Job-Related Skills: Effective oral and written communication ability. Good sense of organization and the ability to work independently. Microsoft Office Skills.
§ Experience: Prior Work Experience: supervisory experience preferred.
§ Technical Training: Office equipment and computer training. Visual acuity to prepare and read written material accurately. The ability to comprehend and follow verbal or written instructions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Attends emergency room desk
1. Obtains consent signatures from patients or responsible parties for services rendered.
2. Responsible for admitting, transferring, and discharging patients in the Emergency Room.
3. Verifies insurance coverage to include co-insurance and deductible.
4. Receives and properly accounts for cash/credit card payments for services rendered.
5. Attends to phone and transferring calls to correct department.
B. Processes outpatients for services
1. Secures necessary information from patients or responsible parties.
2. Completes registration based on provider/physician orders.
3. Obtains consent signatures for services.
4. Completes authorizations for patients in observation or admission status.
5. Receives and properly accounts for cash/credit card payments.
C. Data entry and system input
1. Accurately inputs all patient information into the EHR.
D. Verifies insurance
1. Obtains benefit information via portals or via telephone.
2. Verifies Worker’s Compensation claim information.
