Job Title: Lead, RF Design Engineer Job Code: 2016 Job Location: Palm Bay, FL Job Description: This RF design role is part of the L3Harris (LHX) Space Systems Sector within the Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) Segment. We are the largest and the fastest growing segment within LHX and well postured for continued growth and success in the domain. The products we develop perform a variety of missions for our customers with both space-based and ground-based applications. The Space Systems Sector has growing needs across a variety of programs, and engineers may support one or multiple programs at any given time. Essential Functions: Leads highly complex RF/Microwave activities including research, design, development and verification of RF system architecture and RF payload hardware for space systems. Evaluates customer and program needs to define and coordinate RF performance requirements with internal stakeholders. Leads technical trade studies to drive tactical and strategic decisions for program leadership. Generates Proposals and RF System Requirements. Advanced knowledge of critical performance characteristics of passive and active RF components such as Amplifiers, Oscillators, Attenuators, Mixers, Filters, etc. Great verbal and written communication, as well as excellent analytical skills are essential for this position. Provide mentoring, guidance, and leadership to other engineers. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. Experience using RF lab equipment including Network Analyzers, Signal/Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Power Sensors, etc. Experience troubleshooting RF subassemblies to the component level. TS/SCI security clearance. Preferred Additional Skills: Experience presenting to program leadership and external customers for design reviews, trade studies, verification test results, etc. Experience with RF analysis tools including ADS, SystemVue, HFSS, etc. Continuously researches industry trends, to develop roadmaps utilizing the latest technologies to increase RF system and sub-assembly capabilities, and lower the cost, size, weight, and power. Ability to work independently, as well as directing and coordinating work with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to assure the successful development of RF systems, payloads, and assemblies. Experience operating as a prime provider for both exquisite space and small-sat opportunities. Advanced knowledge of RF Link Budget Analysis, including nonlinear effects and their remedies (inter-modulation, IP3, IP2, group delay variation, and dynamic range). Advanced knowledge of S-parameters (matching networks, cascade analysis, etc.), Gain budget analysis (Gain, Noise Figure, Linearity, Noise power, etc.), and Filtering (types, bandwidth, implementations., etc.). Advanced knowledge of noise figure/noise temperature (Eb/No, BER vs. noise, receiver sensitivity, and expected value and variance), temperature effects, and isolation requirements. MATLAB experience for data analysis.
