Job Description - Lead Sales Engineer - Energy Transition

Eaton\u2019s North American Sales Division is seeking a Lead Sales Engineer to join our team. This role will be based in either the City of Industry, CA or San Diego, CA location and covers the Southern California territory with a focus on Energy Transition solutions, including EV Charging Infrastructure, Solar, Wind, Battery Storage, Microgrids, and Digital Software solutions. In this role, you will develop and execute sales plans, quote projects, negotiate pricing, and deliver sales presentations that strengthen product understanding. You will also build strong relationships with key customers and adapt to changing market and delivery requirements.\n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nThe primary function of the Lead Sales Engineer is to market and sell Eaton\u2019s products, solutions and services to obtain orders that are profitable to Eaton. The position is expected to achieve electrical distribution and engineering services solutions sales results. This will be expected in the geographic market region consistent with the expectations of seasoned sales professionals. The primary responsibility is to manage the assigned customer base, to increase sales in the local marketplace, application guidance and technical assistance to assigned customers. This position is expected to develop, grow, and maintain relationships with Eaton employees, specifiers, and customers including Eaton Authorized Distributors. \n\nThe primary functions include: understanding Eaton\u2019s support structure available to sales, including EatonCare; understanding Eaton proprietary systems and software including Bidmanager and VISTA; applying technical knowledge for all products that are involved with the sales assignment; comprehension of project specifications and drawings; ability to gain confidence of customers and become a trusted source of information about Eaton offerings.\n\n\u2022 You will develop and execute sales plans to meet performance expectations and requirements \n\u2022 You will quote projects and negotiate correct required pricing \n\u2022 You will prepare sales presentations to create product understanding and awareness \n\u2022 You will build relationships with key customers to enhance long-term business prospects \n\u2022 You will work with factories to resolve technical issues while working with customers to resolve quality issues \n\u2022 You will canvas the market to gain insight and adjust to ever changing pricing and delivery requirements \n\u2022 You will assist the team to develop a coordinated sales effort while keeping management informed of market conditions \n\u2022 You will obtain ongoing training on both functional and technical skills.\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nRequired (Basic) Qualifications: \n\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s Degree from an accredited institution \n\u2022 Minimum five (5) years of electrical industry sales experience \n\u2022 Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver\u2019s license \n\u2022 Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. This means that Eaton will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, etc. \n\u2022 No relocation assistance will be provided for this role. Candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of either the City of Industry, CA or San Diego, CA. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation\n\nPreferred Qualifications: \n\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering\n\n## Skills:\n\n\u2022 Ability to respond to a variety of challenging circumstances while continuing to demonstrate superior selling skills for important customer services and applications \n\u2022 Electrical product knowledge \n\u2022 Ability to provide technical solutions built around customer needs \n\u2022 Skilled in time management \n\u2022 Possess negotiating skills while understanding and using techniques needed to close orders \n\u2022 Experience with preparing sales proposals that meet customer expectations \n\u2022 Robust presentation, training and communications skills \n\u2022 Experience utilizing Value Added selling techniques \n\u2022 Strong work ethic, communications skills, competitiveness, willingness to learn and adept at building relationships \n\u2022 Experience working with Bidmanager and Vista\n\nThe compensation range for this full-time position includes base pay and target sales performance incentive. This position has a target total compensation range of $141,700 - $209,300.\n\nBase salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.\n\nWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
