Job Summary


Instrument Fitter supports the fabrication and assembly of all products and parts that are within ATS Technical Services Group. This is both in Houston and all offsite locations. This person will be responsible for the adherence of the project management plan which includes assembly, bending, quality checks, safety, and delivering per schedule.


Duties/Responsibilities



  • Support Quality Assurance plan and follow Quality Check Points.

  • Provide feedback with schedule, lessons learned, risk, and assembly plans.

  • Collaborates with team to ensure continuous improvement.

  • Professionally communicate with fellow co workers and valued partners.

  • Collaborate with generating JSAs.

  • Collaborate and proactively follow 5s in both Houston Shop and outside.

  • Understand how to read and interpret schematics.

  • Inventory materials, tooling, and components prior to kick off.

  • Able to bend the assigned number of lines per day.

  • Follow schematic notes to bend & assemble a qualitative product and avoid rework.

  • Aid with generating tool list and material list for projects.

  • Gather tooling per the tooling kick off list.

  • Aid with monitoring calibration and maintenance plans for machines.

  • Complete the MRB documentation as project is in progress.

  • Accurately completes labor tickets, expenses, and submits on due date.

  • Use crane to move components.

  • Ability to work on numerous projects at once.

  • Assist welders with welding.

  • Support the monitoring and execution of a project.

  • Assist with reviewing and managing NDE

  • Drill on frames and fabricate brackets.

  • Pickle and Passivate tubing.

  • Follow and complete Final Inspection Document.

  • Provide part numbers for components needed. complete day to day activities of assigned areas and projects

  • communication with all levels of management, engineering and clients

  • tasks may include operation of cranes, forklift, general housekeeping, assisting with weld setup and equipment mobilization/demobilization

  • meet assigned project timelines

  • other duties as assigned


Required Abilities



  • Execute project per predefined schedule.

  • Provide daily updates per the milestones.

  • Demonstrate ability to use a hydraulic bender and hand bender.

  • Demonstrate ability to use both hand C&T tools and C&T machine.

  • Follow a route plan with and without racks.

  • Communicate professionally with coworkers and customers verbally and in writing.

  • Complete a JSA, monitor safety within team, and provide risk to avoid incidents.

  • Able to identify and differentiate between Low Pressure, JIC, MP, and HP components.

  • Able to measure and use mathematical equations to bend tubing.

  • Ability to bend tubing from ¼ to 1.5 with hand tools, HB Bender, and/or One Shot.

  • Demonstrate ability to prep tubing to avoid contamination and prepare for either tie in with fittings and or welding.


Education / Experience



  • High School / GED preferred

  • 5+ years of Subsea or Space Experience

  • ability to travel on short notice for extended periods

  • self-motivated with high level of initiative

  • ability to work with minimal supervision

  • problem solving skills

  • written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Ability to use numerous tools for 8 to 12 hours a day while performing these duties.

  • Frequently required to reach with hands/arms and talk or hear

  • Required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds

  • Reasonable visual acuity for the work performed
