Lead Teacher

The Hampshire Township Park District has a DCFS licensed Day Care facility at the Little People Playtime building that houses the established Preschool and Day Care program located at 441 E. Jefferson in Hampshire, IL. The Lead Teacher position is full time (40 hours/week) with duties both indoors and outdoors.  The Lead Teacher is responsible for a group of children that may include infants, toddlers, preschool or Kindergarten age children. Where applicable the Lead Teacher will work with an aide and together as a team to plan age-appropriate activities: music/ movement activities; art/ craft projects; language; math; and science experiences. The Lead Teacher must be available to attend Staff meetings, trainings, evaluations, and orientations, fulfill the annual 15/20 clock hours of continuing education, and participate in parent conferences and/or prepare written parent reports.

Qualifications

• Present documentation of current CPR/first aid certification, or be willing to become CPR certified


• Finger printing and background search as required by DCFS Standards


• Must be at least 19 years of age according to the DCFS Standards with a high school diploma or equivalency (GED)
                                                                          AND


• 60 semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester hours or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child-care/child development
                                                                          OR


• One year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, Kindergarten, or licensed day care center and 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to childcare/child development from birth to age six.

• Possess a current CDA Credential (Child Development Associate).
