Lead Teacher: Fifth/Sixth Grade Humanities (SY25-26)

THE ROLE

As the Lead Fifth/Sixth Grade Humanities Teacher, you will foster a classroom environment that inspires curiosity about history, geography, and culture. Your role is crucial in shaping engaged, informed scholars who understand the world around them. Teaching an average class size of 22-25 scholars per section is both a privilege and a commitment, requiring dedication, passion, and a growth mindset.

THE PERSON

As a Lead Fifth/Sixth Grade Humanities Teacher, you will:

• Design and deliver engaging, rigorous instruction that promotes critical thinking and inquiry.


• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, ensuring every scholar can thrive.


• Assess and monitor scholar progress, providing timely feedback and comprehensive reports to both scholars and parents.


• Collaborate with fellow educators to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.


• Cultivate a classroom culture that celebrates diversity, equity, and a commitment to academic excellence.


• Utilize diverse instructional materials and strategies to enhance scholar engagement and mastery of social studies concepts.


• Communicate effectively with scholars, families, and staff to support each scholar's growth.

THE MUST HAVES

Prior Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sociology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).


• Valid teaching certification for middle school.


• Demonstrated experience in teaching social studies to elementary or middle school scholars, with a proven track record of student growth and achievement.


• Strong understanding of historical, geographical, and cultural concepts presented in engaging, age-appropriate ways.


• Outstanding communication and collaboration skills.

Work Demands

• Schedule: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
