Lead Teacher I & II, Early Childhood Education
Rural Resources Community Action – Smart Start, Colville, WA (Full-Time)

Summary
Rural Resources Community Action (RRCA) is seeking dedicated Lead Teachers for our Early Childhood Education program. The Lead Teacher oversees the daily operation of a preschool classroom, plans, coordinates, and implements educational plans for preschool children, and integrates trauma-invested practices that support social-emotional learning and self-regulation. This role involves working closely with families to enhance their knowledge of child development and parenting techniques, providing supervision and guidance to other teachers, staff, and volunteers, and contributing to the development of systems and programs. 

Salary Information
Our Lead Teacher Level I position is offered at $21.96-$23.75 per hour with a full salary range of $21.96- $58.53. Our Lead Teacher Level II position is offered at $23.93- $25.88 per hour with a full salary range of $23.93 -$63.80. Actual wage will vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, experience and qualifications. Employees who successfully meet or exceed performance expectations during their annual performance evaluation will be eligible for a 4% wage increase. The full salary range for this position represents the low and high end of the total salary range for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise educational preschool classes, including planning and conducting classes.
  • Ensure compliance with all classroom objectives outlined by program standards.
  • Develop daily lesson plans based on research-based curricula.
  • Apply trauma-invested practices that support social-emotional learning and self-regulation.
  • Supervise, manage, and monitor the work of assigned staff and volunteers.
  • Participate in team staffings, multi-disciplinary team meetings, and parent events.
  • Communicate with families through various formats and conduct Parent Teacher Conferences and Home Visits.
  • Monitor and document changes or developments regarding children and families.
  • Conduct developmental screening and assessment of children.
  • Develop and monitor individual child plans, including IEPs for children qualifying for special services.
  • Contribute to the recruitment of families and volunteers and promote the Early Childhood Program in the community.
  • Maintain classroom and building safety and health standards.
  • Participate in program committees and work groups.
  • Generate, collect, and document donations and/or Inkind for the program.
  • Attend staff trainings and meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of the developmental and educational requirements of preschool-age children.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and social service delivery principles.
  • Solid knowledge of modern principles and practices of management and supervision.
  • Ability to establish professional relationships with co-workers, children, families, and the community.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suites and various database programs.

Requirements

 Education and Experience

  • Lead Teacher Level I:
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with coursework equivalent to a major relating to ECE.
    • At least one year of experience working with children in an educational preschool and one year of experience working with adults in an educational or social service capacity.
    • Experience as a supervisor preferred.
  • Lead Teacher Level II:
    • Baccalaureate or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with coursework equivalent to a major relating to ECE.
    • Two years of experience working with children in an educational preschool and two years of experience working with adults in an educational or social service capacity.
    • Experience as a supervisor preferred.

    Certifications and Licenses

  • Valid driver's license in state of residence.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Auto insurance as required by the State of Washington.
  • Physical examination within three weeks of employment.
  • First Aid & Infant/Child CPR card within 30 days of employment.
  • Food Worker’s Card within 30 days of employment.
  • Completion of a criminal history check.
  • TB test and proof of test results prior to the start of employment.
  • Documentation of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) immunization.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers for fine manipulation.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Ability to uphold the stress of traveling.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Moderate noise level (classroom noise, children talking, yelling).
  • Ability to work in a confined area and sit at a computer terminal for extended periods.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet, snowy, or hot outdoor weather conditions.
