Lead Tester

Description

GXM Consulting is seeking a Lead Tester to provide both hands-on testing and leadership within a cross-functional Agile team. The Lead Tester will plan, coordinate, and execute test activities using a variety of functional, usability, and accessibility testing methods. This individual will help drive quality across the full development lifecycle and collaborate closely with developers, designers, and product staff to ensure intuitive, performant, and compliant software delivery. This role requires both technical testing proficiency and experience with human-centered design practices, including user research and usability analysis.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• 7–8 years of professional experience in software testing, usability evaluation, or interaction design
• Experience using at least half of the common testing tools associated with modern web-based technology stacks
• Strong foundation in user experience principles, test planning, and defect documentation
• Familiarity with conducting stakeholder interviews, task analysis, and interaction design validation
• Ability to synthesize usability testing feedback and recommend improvements
• Experience creating testing artifacts such as usability test plans, testing scripts, and testing reports

Desired Qualifications

• Prior experience as a test lead on Agile development teams
• Familiarity with 508 compliance testing, accessibility standards, and responsive web testing
• Understanding of software development workflows and tools (e.g., version control, ticketing systems)
• Background in prototyping, wireframing, or human factors research
• Ability to work with designers and front-end developers to iterate on user interface issues
