Lead Warehouse Associate

Position Summary:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

1. Fulfills the duties and responsibilities of a Material Handling Operator.


2. Provides leadership and sets a positive example for other associates through productivity, quality, sanitation, and compliance with company policies and procedures.


3. Continuously trains and develops associates on standard operation procedures (SOP) and job safety analysis (JSA).


4. Serves as a primary point of reference for warehouse associates regarding operational or procedural questions.


5. Works closely with supervisor on delegating and prioritizing work flow.


6. Leads and manages temporary labor personnel as required to ensure the efficient, accurate and timely completion of projects.


7. Maintains a clean and safe work environment and reinforces sanitation and safety policies with warehouse associates.


8. Completes forms and prepares reports as required.


9. Conduct pre-shift and safety meetings.


10. Complete Safety observations.


11. Conduct Cycle counts and customer inventories.


12. Back up to Warehouse Supervisor as needed.


13. Assists with the material handling equipment training of new employees.


14. Updates and maintains sanitation records.


15. Performs cycle counts or quality control testing and communicates findings and observations to Supervisor.


16. Identifies continuous improvement opportunities in warehousing processes.


17. Participates in departmental or interdepartmental meetings.

Job Specifications:

1.      High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.

2.      Must acquire forklift certification upon hire; prefer 1-3 years prior experience operating a forklift in a high volume environment.

3.      Basic reading and math skills.

4.      Must be able to follow specific instructions thoroughly and accurately, and provide instructions to other associates as needed.

5.      Able to lift up to 40 lbs safely on occasion as required.

6.      Good hand/eye coordination and motor skills.

7.      Able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed due to customer requirements.

8.      Ability to understand, follow and enforce company policies and procedures.
