Job Description - Lead Youth Care Professional - Overnight
What is this job?
The Lead Awake Overnight Youth Care Professional works effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide direct care services and ensure that nightly supervision of residents is consistent with agency standards. Working under the direction of the unit supervisor, this position will assist with the implementation of youth programming, mentoring of direct care personnel and will provide oversight for the campus during the overnight hours. This position is integral to supporting the unique needs of each youth as well as maintaining functioning for the living unit.

What does this job do specifically?

Ensures the completion of steps to prepare unit to receive new intakes, greets new intakes upon arrival and provides each youth with a warm welcome to the program. Responsible to ensure the admission of the youth is processed in the UC portal and that the personal belongings of the new arrivals are secured for Care Team staff to process and inventory.
Assists with the preparation and coordination of resident discharges by completing required documentation, reviewing required document with the resident, processing the discharge of the youth from the UC portal and generating UC portal discharge documentation including the Verification of Release form.
Acts in capacity of a Campus Supervisor.
Updates and ensures the accuracy of daily capacity management reporting via required federal database systems.
Demonstrates an understanding of trauma informed practices through the promotion of safety, consistent care, supervision and support to residents of the Caminos Program.
Mentors and role models for direct care staff in supportive conversations with youth. Demonstrates how to function in their role as a positive, consistent support as the youth heal and recover from complex trauma. Encourages actions in a calm, respectful and patient manner.
Completes bed checks for every resident every fifteen minutes and documents activities in according to agency policy and procedures.
Ensures consistent implementation of each resident’s individual service plan through participation in the development of unit activities, life skill exercises and recreation activities as well as through identifying opportunities for acculturation and spiritual life awareness. Provides direct supervision and completes documentation.
Actively ensures safety of the environment by encouraging residents to participate in maintaining established standards of cleanliness and orderliness in their living unit and the surrounding campus.
Accurately administers medication according to physician and/or nurse’s orders and documents the medication administration record (MAR).
Ensures that each resident’s health needs are identified and met within the specified time frame.
Actively encourages and supports each resident in the pursuit of educational growth, acculturation activities and life skills development.
Provides safe transportation in agency vehicles for residents.
Ensures that the staff to youth ratio is consistent with federal, state and agency regulations.
Assist with preparing residents for airline travel, accompanying residents to the airport as needed and accompanying residents on fly outs.
High School diploma with minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth.
Preferred Education and Experience
· Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field.
· Ability to speak, read and write Spanish
