Job Description - Lease Operator

Position Title: Department:	Lease Operator Operations
Location:	DJ Basin, Colorado
Reports to:	Production Foreman
Salary Range:	$28/hr. - $43/hr. ($58,240 - $89,440)

Job Summary

A Lease Operator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of oil and gas wells on specific leases. This role involves monitoring production, maintaining equipment, ensuring safety compliance, and optimizing well performance.

Essential Functions

Monitor and maintain oil and gas wells, pumps, and related equipment
Conduct regular inspections of well sites and production facilities
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot operational issues
Record and report production data, flow rates, and other relevant information
Seek ways to reduce lease operating expenses by noting problems and/or recommending courses of action to supervisors
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
Coordinate with third-party contractors and suppliers as needed
Optimize production processes to maximize efficiency and output
Respond to and manage emergency situations

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Proficiency in using SCADA systems and other industry-specific software
Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance in the oil and gas sector
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Safety-oriented mindset with a commitment to environmental stewardship
Strong positive attitude, driven to succeed
Work with various forms of artificial lift, including plunger lift, gas lift, rod pump, jet pump

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or Equivalent
2-3 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably in a similar role

Other requirements

Valid Colorado driver’s license with clean driving record (extensive travel between sites may be required)
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various weather conditions
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call rotations
Operate a vehicle safely in all weather conditions
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

This position is critical for maintaining the safety culture within oil and gas operations while ensuring full compliance with environmental laws.
