Leave Replacement Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

POSITION OVERVIEW: Hudson Guild’s Mental Health Counseling Program is a small, community focused mental health program committed to providing high quality, comprehensive mental health care to individuals across the lifespan. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is an integral part of the mental health team, providing psychiatric evaluations and psychopharmacological treatment to patients in collaboration with psychotherapists and the Director of Clinical Services. This is a hybrid position, which requires one’s willingness to provide care to clients on-site if clinically necessary. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Nurse Practitioner degree with specialized training and expertise in psychiatry. PMHNP-BC preferred.


• New York State Nurse Practitioner License with the ability to practice independently


• Minimum two year’s experience providing mental health treatment 


• Knowledge of and interest in community mental health with previous experience working with low-income families and individuals with medical and mental health comorbidities


• Proficient in providing Tele-Mental Health Services through use of an encrypted, HIPAA compliant Telehealth Platform

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of Theranest or similar Electronic Health Record System 


• Experience with OMH Regulations 


• Experience working with external systems (e.g. DOE, ACS, Hospital Systems)


• Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to determine diagnosis and current mental health status of clients


• Formulate treatment plans in collaboration with psychotherapy team


• Manage client medication regimens; prescribe psychotropic medication as clinically indicated and observe client’s response(s) to medications


• Review medical records and order and review labs if clinically necessary


• Participate in crisis intervention when necessary


• Participate in case conferences to determine most appropriate treatment for clients


• Complete all necessary written reports in a thorough and timely manner in accordance with program and agency standards


• Assist clients with concern, compassion, and empathy for their gender identification, culture identification, and ethnicity; respect their confidentiality and privacy and communicate with them in a courteous, respectful, and trauma informed manner 


• Embrace an interdisciplinary team approach for effective delivery of services to clients


• Uphold professional codes of conduct and ethics as well as Hudson Guild policies


• Exercise sound clinical judgment as a matter of course, and hold protected information and other sensitive information in the strictest of confidence in accordance with Hudson Guild and HIPAA regulations


• Other related duties as assigned within PMHNP scope of practice
