Job Description - Lecturer, Mathematics and Statistics

Thank you for your interest in employment with Louisiana Tech University.

Applications are invited for Lecturer positions in the Mathematics and Statistics program within the College of Engineering and Science (COES). Lecturers in the COES are highly respected, integral parts of the college’s mission and structure. In addition to their central role of teaching, they populate and chair various committees, provide leadership in many courses and other areas of institutional need, and are eligible for a promotion pathway that parallels the traditional tenure track. The College is experiencing significant growth in several program areas and is therefore undertaking an aggressive faculty recruiting campaign. The College seeks to attract culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber. To build a diverse workforce, the college encourages applications from individuals with disabilities, minorities, veterans and women.

The ideal candidate will have earned a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics or Statistics or a closely related field with significant graduate work in these disciplines. Demonstration of potential for outstanding teaching ability, written and oral communication skills, as well as a commitment to demanding high quality student work are expected. Candidates should also demonstrate: the ability to work collegially as well as independently; excellent leadership and organizational skills; and a willingness to keep abreast of developments in Mathematics and Statistics. All areas of expertise in the discipline will be considered.

Louisiana Tech is designated as a national university by the U.S. News & World Report college rankings. The College of Engineering and Science currently enrolls over 3,000 students, including 200+ masters and 130+ doctoral students. The College has recently opened a $37M Integrated Engineering and Science Education Building that provides 128,000 square feet of space for project-driven and integrated curricula in mathematics, engineering and science.
