Job Description

The Humanities Division at Texas A&M University – Texarkana invites applications for a Lecturer of Composition join our faculty beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. The successful candidate will teach five courses in each fall and spring semester across our undergraduate composition curriculum, including Introduction to College Reading and Writing, Composition I, and Composition II, and with some opportunities to teach literature and humanities courses. Lecturer-rank faculty do not have research requirements but may be asked to attend faculty meetings, participate in program assessment requirements as part of the Texas Core Curriculum, or provide service to the department. Final course load requirements to be determined based on the offer agreement and contingent upon the level of program and/or service responsibilities negotiated.

 

Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required at the time of hire. No pre-employment sponsorship is authorized for this position.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in English core curriculum and degree programs.

  • Experience using Canvas or similar LMS.

  • Play an integral role in the Humanities Division at Texas A&M University-Texarkana.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Earned Master’s degree in English (with at least 18 SCH in graduate-level English coursework)

  • At least two years of teaching experience in a higher education setting or dual credit courses

  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required at the time of hire. No pre-employment sponsorship is authorized for this position

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in English (with at least 18 SCH in graduate English coursework; or ABD

  • Experience teaching English courses across multiple modalities.

This position generally does not supervise employees
