Job Duties:

The Department of Accounting and Finance in the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay seeks applicants for a 9-month instructor position in Personal Financial Planning for the academic year 2026-27. The Austin E. Cofrin School of Business values university-level teaching experience, CFP designation, the ability to teach a variety of classes in the Finance curriculum, engagement in institutional, community, and professional service, and experience working in the world of business.

Consistent with UW–Green Bay’s mission, the successful candidate will contribute to a problem-focused educational experience that promotes critical thinking, student access and success, experiential learning, and strong connections to the regional business community, while working inclusively and effectively with a diverse campus community. Professional working experience in the world of business is viewed favorably. The successful applicant will contribute to a university, school, and academic unit with growing enrollment, and extensive regional business connections. Applicants will be expected to engage fully with the Cofrin School of Business’ Charles Schwab Foundation Center for Financial Wellness.

This position will be responsible for enhancing UW-Green Bay’s mission-driven inclusive teaching efforts and creating and maintaining an educational environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates those with diverse identities, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Teach a variety of undergraduate and/or graduate courses in financial planning and finance.
  • Prepare students to successfully achieve CFP® and other professional certifications in the financial planning industry.
  • Mentor students in the “transcripts to resumes” program.
  • Perform scholarly activities consistent with rank. 
  • Perform institutional and community service.
  • Contribute to ongoing program development within the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business.
  • Participate fully in the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business’ AACSB accreditation efforts.

Compensation:

Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate/ABD status from an institution supporting an AACSB accredited business school, or Master’s Degree in Financial Planning/Finance or Business with a specialization in Finance plus 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
  • Evidence of engagement in institutional, community, and professional endeavors.

Conditions of Appointment:

The home campus of this position is Green Bay, and the successful candidate may be required to teach an occasional course at the Sheboygan, or Manitowoc Campus. Courses will be taught both face-to-face and online (in asynchronous and synchronous formats). The specific courses taught may vary from semester to semester.

Position is a full-time, one academic year, Instructional Academic Staff appointment. A pre-employment education check which includes, but is not limited to, the verification of academic credentials will be conducted on the finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Benefit Details 

The Universities of Wisconsin provides an excellent benefits package to meet the diverse needs of its employees. For benefits eligible positions, this includes several health insurance options, with annual deductibles as low as $250/individual and $500/family. Our benefits package also includes dental, vision, several life insurance options, AD&D and Accident insurance and Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts. We participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), where employer contributions begin immediately, and employees are fully vested after 5 years of service. The Universities of Wisconsin also provides supplemental retirement savings programs including a 403(b) and Deferred Compensation. 

 

In addition, eligible employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually and paid parental leave. Eligible employees earn 13-27 days of vacation each year, depending on years of service and employment type.

Employee Misconduct
