Perform valuation analysis to provide attorneys with recommendations on potential appeals.
Prepare budgets to show the property tax impact of new acquisition and assessment changes for commercial real property.
Conduct in-depth research including land titles review, property improvement documentation, lease analysis and review of historical financial records.
Assist with appeal administration, including but not limited to, assisting with docketing duties, preparing and reviewing presentation materials, including appraisals, or communicating directly with the taxing authorities.
Support/assist five full-time attorneys with administrative responsibilities related to reviewing property assessments and case management.
Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and county offices.
Maintaining electronic and paper files.
Drafting correspondence to internal and external stakeholders.
Perform additional duties, as assigned by supervisors.
Knowledge and Skills
Clear, effective communicator able to engage appropriately with colleagues, clients and government officials across all levels and cultures.
Ability to interact professionally, in a service-oriented manner with a diverse team and diverse client base.
Technologically savvy and comfortable learning new software programs. Intermediate level Word, Excel and Outlook skills. Experience using a database.
Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Able to deal with roadblocks and devise alternate ways of solving problems.
Ability to work as part of a team and also to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent time management skills, with a focus on meeting deadlines.
Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented approach to work.
Ability to prioritize workload, deal with stress in a fast-paced, high volume work environment and resolve issues quickly and effectively to determine appropriate courses of action for the firm.
High level of confidentiality.
Experience & Education
Bachelor’s degree in a professional discipline such as Real Estate, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Finance or similar is preferred.
1-2 years of general business experience. Prior experience working with attorneys or in a professional services environment a plus.
Experience with Dynamic Financial Modeling considered a plus.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Ability to perform light work, including occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment.
Works in a typical office setting.
Willingness to work more than 35 hours in a work week during busy periods.
