Job Description - Legal Assistant

Job Order: Legal Assistant 

Employer: Alltex Personnel Inc. Location: Southwest Houston Reports To: Department Manager Position Type: Full Time (Temp-to-Hire) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Salary: $35,360 annually / $17.00 hourly Schedule: MondayFriday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM

Position Summary

Alltex Personnel is seeking a Legal Assistant to support our Post Judgment department. This team handles delinquent accounts that have received court judgments. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for preparing payoff documents, releases, and assisting with taxpayer inquiries and administrative tasks.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare, proofread, and forward various judgment payoff documents (standard, deficiency, strike-off, private resale, bankruptcy, etc.)
  • Draft and process releases of judgment (standard, partial, resale, homestead-related, etc.)
  • Respond to phone calls and emails regarding payoffs and releases; assist with Post Judgment mail line
  • Research and prepare Releases of Judgment from the JP list (twice annually)
  • Create payment plans for taxpayers
  • Process check copies and prepare corresponding releases
  • Assist walk-in customers as needed
  • Review files for sale when time permits
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager, including customer service and administrative support

  • Integrity Test
  • Analytical Abilities Evaluation

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Frequent sitting, talking, and listening
  • Occasional walking, handling objects/tools, and reaching
  • Ability to lift/move up to 1020 lbs
  • Visual focus required for document review

Ideal Candidate Qualities

  • High-volume document production experience
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and proofreading skills
  • Comfortable working with numbers and multitasking
  • Strong problem-solving and communication abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent time management and research skills
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required
