Legal Collections - Unlimited Growth Potential

Our client, a large, prestigious law firm in Northern NJ is looking for an experienced accounts receivable/collections professional to join their accounting team. This an onsite (5 days per week position) position sitting Essex Co NJ.

Responsibilities:

1. Contacting debtors via phone, email, and mail to negotiate payment arrangements and resolve outstanding debts.
2. Utilizing legal avenues, including demand letters and legal proceedings, to recover outstanding debts.
3. Reviewing and analyzing accounts to determine appropriate collection strategies.
4. Managing a portfolio of accounts and maintaining accurate records of all collection activities.
5. Collaborating with attorneys and legal staff to escalate cases as necessary and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
6. Providing exceptional customer service while effectively communicating payment options and resolving disputes.
7. Conducting skip tracing and investigating to locate debtors with delinquent accounts.
8. Adhering to all state and federal regulations governing debt collection practices, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field preferred.
2. Prior experience in legal collections or debt recovery strongly preferred.
3. Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing debt collection practices.
4. Strong negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
5. Ability to work independently and efficiently manage a high-volume workload.
6. Proficiency in computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office and collections software.
7. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
