Position Overview
As a Legal Operations team member, you will play a key role in shaping and scaling the legal function. You’ll be responsible for implementing legal technologies, establishing operational processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations. You will be a key asset in building the legal team and overseeing the connective tissue between legal, finance, engineering, compliance, and executive teams—ensuring the legal department operates as a strategic enabler of growth and risk management.
Develop dashboards and reporting mechanisms for legal KPIs, including contract turnaround times, compliance metrics, and spend tracking
Streamline workflows and documentation using automation tools and collaboration platforms
Operational Excellence
Build and optimize scalable processes for key legal workflows, including contract intake, NDAs, vendor onboarding, and IP management
Establish and maintain templates, playbooks, SOPs, and knowledge management systems
Coordinate cross-functional initiatives to align legal processes with business priorities and ensure timely legal engagement
Compliance & Risk Management
Partner with internal stakeholders (engineering, HR, IT) to ensure legal requirements are integrated into daily operations
Assist in internal audits, due diligence preparation, and regulatory inquiries and required filings with local and state governments
Vendor and Outside Counsel Management
Manage budgets, track legal spend, and support efficient engagement with external counsel
Qualifications
Required
3+ years of experience in legal operations, legal tech, compliance, or similar role—preferably within a technology or defense environment
Strong understanding of legal process design, workflow optimization, and legal technology
Proven experience deploying tools such as CLM platforms, issue tracking systems, or contract automation
Strong project management skills and a track record of driving cross-functional initiatives to completion
Knowledge of U.S. regulatory frameworks applicable to the defense industry (e.g., DFARS, CMMC, FARS)
Preferred
Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment
Familiarity with federal government contracting, procurement compliance, or export controls
Legal or paralegal training (JD, LLM, or paralegal certification) is a plus but not required
Knowledge of U.S. regulatory frameworks applicable to the defense industry (e.g., DFARS, CMMC, FARS)
