The Office of Legal Affairs, under the direction of the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, provides legal representation and advice to the University and all of its constituent parts, including the Board of Trustees, the President, Provost, faculty and academic departments, the Office of Student Life, Human Resources, Advancement, Athletics, Public Safety, Business and Finance, and the Wexner Medical Center among many others. As one of the largest universities in the nation, Ohio State is a multifaceted institution, with a sophisticated and leading-edge legal practice that touches nearly every area of law, including litigation, labor and employment, public contracting, real estate and construction, intellectual property, research and technology transfer, business transactions, taxation and benefits, administrative law, health care law, public safety and criminal law matters, federal and state constitutional and public law issues, and more.
The Legal Services Coordinator in the Office of Legal Affairs provides high-level administrative and legal support to in-house counsel in a fast-paced, confidential, and deadline-driven environment. This role is responsible for managing complex attorney calendars; coordinating meetings, conference calls, and travel; and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations of assigned legal functions. The coordinator plays a key role in preparing, editing, and formatting a wide range of confidential legal documents, including contracts, reports, correspondence, and court-related materials, while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with legal standards. The position also involves tracking deadlines, managing docketed items, and proactively following up with internal and external stakeholders to support timely completion of work. In addition, this role is responsible for maintaining organized physical and electronic files within document and case management systems; providing front-line office support by greeting visitors, responding to inquiries, and handling communications; and assisting with financial and operational processes such as invoice processing, settlements, and travel coordination in accordance with university policies. This position requires the ability to manage a high volume of varied and complex tasks with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, maintain strict confidentiality, and work both independently and collaboratively. A strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive approach to prioritization and problem-solving are essential to success in this role.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED. One (1) year of relevant experience in customer service or communications, including researching, analyzing & interpreting information. Experience in budgeting.
Desired Qualifications:
Two to four (2-4) years of relevant experience. Experience in a legal setting and knowledge of legal terminology, procedures and formats; excellent computer and proof-reading skills.

The Target Hiring Range for this position is $20.24 to $26.44 per hour.
