Lending Processor, Full Time, Alpena

Northland Area Federal Credit Union is seeking a Lending Processor to join our Lending Operations Department. The primary purpose of this role is to support our Service Mission: “To be our members’ most trusted financial partner,” by delivering high-quality service to both internal and external members. This position focuses on processing and underwriting assistance, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional member service throughout the lending process.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Deliver outstanding service to internal and external members in alignment with the credit union’s Service Promises.


• Communicate with all third parties related to appraisals, title work, insurance companies, employers, and counties.


• Handle all rate locks and coordinate member notification with originators.


• Analyze member financials and debt structure; prepare and submit files to underwriting.


• Review and clear up findings from underwriting to gain a clear-to-close status.


• Coordinate balancing with title companies, loan assistants, and originators to schedule closings.


• Generate and review accurate loan documents for closing.


• Document and review closing documentation for mortgage and business loans.


• Disburse funds after closing and balance general ledgers.


• Submit closed loans to Servicing/Credit for audit and assist with post-closing follow-up.


• Support lending sales and operations by responding to calls, tickets, chats, and emails promptly.


• Maintain knowledge of compliance and NAFCU policy through training and seminars.


• Assist underwriters and originators when needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Vote on loans as assigned.


• Market and promote credit union products and services.


• Assist in resolving post-closing items and audit clean-up.


• Conduct loan interviews and closings, ensuring compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications Required:

• Minimum of two (2) years of mortgage lending experience

Qualifications Desired:

• State of Michigan Credit Insurance Producer License (not required)


• Licensed through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS)
