Level 2 Asphalt Lab Technician for ODOT District 8

True Inspection Services LLC, a division of the Mannik & Smith Group, is currently hiring ODOT Prequalified Asphalt Lab Technician Level 2 for our Cincinnati, OH area projects. These projects will include ODOT District 8 and the upcoming Brent Spence multi-year, year-round project starting in late 2025/early 2026. Your role:

**Responsibilities:**

- Conduct tests on asphalt to ensure compliance with federal, state, and client specifications.

- Perform testing and analysis on asphalt samples.

- Carry out aggregate sampling and testing procedures.

- Execute density testing on asphalt pavements.

- Complete required data reports and submit them on time.

**Communication and Safety:**

- Communicate test results to all relevant personnel.

- Ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to health and safety practices.

Requirements

Education and certification requirements:

  · A High School Diploma or GED 

· ODOT prequalification Asphalt Concrete School, Levels 1 and 2

· Aggregate certification-Level 1 and 2

· ACI Concrete Strength Testing certificate

Should be familiar with

· Knowledge of the operation of the NCAT ignition oven

· ASTM/AASHTO standards

· AASHTO T209-Maximum specific gravity and bituminous paving mixtures

· ASTM D3203-Percent air voids in compacted mixture

· AASHTO T27-Sieve analysis for fine and coarse aggregates

· AASHTO T248-Reducing samples of aggregate to testing size

· AASHTP T11-Washing material finer than the #200 sieve

· AASHTO T27-Sieve analysis for fine and coarse aggregates

· AASHTO T19-Unit wt. and voids in aggregate

· AASHTO D5821-Determining the percentage of fracture particles in coarse aggregate

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, frequently walking, talking, and standing are required.

Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
