Onsite Sr. Backend Desktop Engineer - Intune/SCCM

  • Onsite in NYC, NY
  • 6 Months - potential contract to hire opportunity

OVERVIEW

  • The Senior Desktop Engineer Lead will perform application packaging, software deployments, deployments, asset life cycle documentation, mobile device management and release control in an enterprise IT environment, as well as secure baseline image creation for multiple hardware configurations.
  • Leverage expertise with BigFix, Group Policy, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, Active Directory, MBAM/Bitlocker, BeyondTrust, PowerBroker, PowerShell and Office 365.
  • The Senior Engineer will be able to communicate concerns and solutions with varying degrees of technical knowledge as well will work with individual departments and will research new technologies leveraging techniques to ensure operational efficiencies.
  • The Senior Engineer will perform best practice desktop engineering support for an enterprise environment consisting of PC and Mac.
  • Also, perform application packaging, deployments, documentation, and release control in an enterprise IT environment, as well as secure baseline image creation for multiple hardware configurations. Leverage expertise with BigFix, Group Policy, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, Active Directory, MBAM/Bitlocker, BeyondTrust PowerBroker, PowerShell and Office 365.
  • In addition, the Senior Desktop Engineer will hold positions as Level 3 to assist L2 Engineers with tickets, guidance, training, etc.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Software packaging and installation using PowerShell and/or VBScript
  • Proficient in creating and editing MSI installers.
  • Windows batch and PowerShell scripting
  • Works closely with IT managers/supervisors to develop strategy and architecture that will benefit the organization as a whole.
  • Assesses new technologies and apprise manager of changes that may be appropriate to the mission of IT department. May work with field personnel to assess, troubleshoot and resolve problems pertaining to desktop environment. May contact vendors or other personnel as needed.
  • Provides senior level support to the field offices and affiliate office personnel on problems and issues related to hardware, software, networks and business applications.
  • Cross train analysts or technicians on process and procedures within the IT department.
  • Participates in disaster recovery and contingency planning activities.
  • Network concept, structure and connectivity.
  • Build, maintain, and provide operational support for virtual and physical environments
  • Troubleshoot & resolve service issues related to virtual and physical environments
  • Partner with security, server, client services, network, and application teams to troubleshoot
  • Design and build standards for mess related operating systems
  • Provide off-hours support for operations and pre-scheduled and emergency maintenance
  • Proactively monitor infrastructure for potential issues or impacts on systems operations
  • Work with third-party vendors to improve current and future enterprise environments
  • IT operations (e.g. Asset Life Cycle Management, Problem Management, Incident Management, Change Management, and Capacity Management)
  • Recommend suitable technology infrastructure updates in order to develop long- and short-term planning
  • Recommend alternatives for applications architecture in order to ensure business sustainability
  • Explore requirements from the internal IT team in order to recommend the most suitable IT desktop solutions
  • Elaborate functional requirements into technical specifications in order to ensure an effective development process
  • Lead implementation & deployment process by determining and managing optimum resources and timeline in order to achieve project deliverables.
  • Evaluates overall infrastructure capacity in order to ensure optimum system performance.
  • A strong candidate will also have a high-level understanding of simple networking services and Windows 10 administration at an enterprise level. Is expected be able to perform support tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with administration functions of Windows 10 Pro
  • Strong automation skills with knowledge of PowerShell
  • Must have a demonstrated high-level understanding of Desktop and Network operations technical areas
  • Ability to complete engineering and development tasks with minimal direction.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or a related technical field and a minimum of 8 years of experience in enterprise environment design, operations of mobile device tools, desktop workspace, and vulnerability patching is required.
  • Experience in asset management, capacity management, roadmaps, DaaS, and pilots is also required.
  • Strong logical and analytical thinker

  • Efficient in the root cause of problems and solutions for remediation
  • Risk analysis of systems and provide solutions in a timely manner
  • Exhibit poise and focus under stressful situations
  • Strong communications skills, written and verbal
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Manager Intune, Symantec Altiris, asset lifecycle management, IT communications, problem management
  • The ability to work independently
  • Ability to support services: mobile device tools, desktop workspace, vulnerability patching
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Arc (Formally SCCM)
  • Experience with OneLogin, Microsoft Azure access management
