Job Summary
Serve as a member of the NASA GRC Library staff, supporting the Agencywide research community to enable NASA’s missions
Responsibilities include responding to requests for materials via circulation, interlibrary loan, and reference research inquiries. Assist library management with support to technical services, collection management, process improvement, and data analytics/reporting.
Essential Functions
Responsible for helping patrons in the use of library catalogs, databases, and indexes to locate books and other materials, including requesting materials through interlibrary loan
Responsible for answering all levels of reference requests, from brief consultation of standard reference materials to in-depth queries requiring extended research
Responsible for compiling and maintaining records, sorting and shelving books or other media, removal or repair of damaged books or other media
Responsible for registering patrons and checking materials in and out of the circulation process
Responsible for directing the efforts of the GRC library staff in management of the collection and related catalog and metadata entries
Responsible for replacing materials in shelving area (stacks) or files
Responsible for generating routine and/or ad-hoc reports for OCOMM management/OCOMM customers
Responsible for working with NASA Library leadership and colleagues in the development and improvement of library workflows and processes
Duties may include directly interfacing with OCOMM management and/or OCOMM customers
Qualifications
Master's degree in library science, information science or other appropriate area of specialization from an accredited college or university;
Five (5) years of relevant experience
Familiarity with library software/IT infrastructure tools, experience supporting library technical services and cataloging/collection maintenance; and
Proficient in:
advanced oral and written communications,
advanced writing and editing, and
advanced problem solving
Experience in an academic/research library environment preferable. Experience in a branch/department supervisory role a plus.
Salary Range is: $55K to 65K
