Job Description - Library Assistant III


 Department:  Library Services Department               Organizational Unit: Library Services Port St John Library    


 


Position Type: Permanent                                       Full Time/Part Time: Full Time

$21.94 hourly.  Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications.  North Area/Port St. John Public Library.  Work schedule is variable and includes evenings and weekends.  Performs experienced paraprofessional library work supervising primarily in the Circulation section of a library.  Supervises other paraprofessional employees and volunteers.


 


REQUIREMENTS Two (2) years of college coursework in any field at an accredited college or university [30 semester (45 quarter) hours = one (1) year]; PLUS two (2) years of progressively responsible library experience.  Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.  SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSMust have completed, or must complete within eighteen (18) months of employment, all of the classes for all three (3) phases of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on all three (3) phase examinations.  When usage statistics change, library employees may be assigned to another library.  In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
