Job Description - Library Information Resources/Technical Support Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:


 The role of the Southern Union Library/Information Resources Technical Support Coordinator is to provide effective customer service, manage accounts, and provide technical support to conferences and schools within the Southern Union territory. This position exercises high tact, interpersonal skills, teamwork, accounting and computer skills, confidentiality, and Christian deportment. Must be able to communicate technical information to non-technical users.



SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Provides customer support services to all conferences, vendors, and Southern Union Library/Information Resources (SU-LIR) program participants in a timely manner.

  • Assists schools with developing and implementing a Library/Media Center Organization Plan (LMCOP), including, but not limited to, virtual and on-site support. The LMCOP includes providing schools with ongoing support for collection analysis, weeding and purchasing materials, coordinating with Automated Library Management Systems (ALMS) and Learning Management Systems (LMS), and the Mackin Educational Services technical support team.

  • Assists with managing and cataloging library materials, including uploading MARC records according to ALA standards and guidelines for schools participating in the SU-LIR program.

  • Assists with managing the school library fund accounts in the Mackin Online Management System (OMS), Access Database, and the online library and learning management system.

  • Processes and tracks invoices and check requests.

  • Reports semi-annual reconciliation to Treasury.

  • Assists with the management of school E-Rate accounts.

  • Supports SU-LIR advisory.

  • Updates the SU-LIR program policy and procedure document.

  • Assists with SU-LIR AdventistEdge.com webpage updates.

  • Assists the director in preparing various agendas, conference reports, training, presentations, and correspondence for meetings, workshops, conventions, and special events sponsored or coordinated by the department.

  • Perform other duties as required by the director.



RECOMMENDED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:



  • Associate’s degree in accounting, business preferred. Relevant work experience may be acceptable in lieu of scholastic requirements.

  • Knowledge of library and learning management systems.

  • Minimum two years of relevant successful office experience and/or library support staff experience is preferred, including sound knowledge of computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Access.



KNOWLEDGE SND SKILL:


Knowledge of principles, policies, and beliefs of the Southern Union Conference and Seventh-day Adventist Church.  Knowledge of church structure and organization, including committee procedures, etc.  Knowledge and skills in appropriate methods of dealing with human behavior in various circumstances.  Advanced command of language skills, including proficiency in verbal and written form. 


 


Ability in strategic planning, leadership and organization.  Ability to develop long-and short-term plans and programs; and to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal/external personnel.  Must possess advanced ability to effectively present facts and recommendations in oral and written form.



CONTACTS, ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:


Contact with church leaders, outside organizations, and lay persons, as well as Southern Union personnel at all levels.  Must possess advanced interpersonal skills and project a professional Christian image.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Must be able to read, speak, and hear in the English language.  Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.  Some standing, walking, bending, kneeling, carrying of light items, etc. required.  Must be able to travel extensively in all parts of the Southern Union territory under varying conditions. This position requires working onsite unless approved by ADCOM or job demands being in the field.



WORKING CONDITIONS:


Essential responsibilities are performed in sedentary and comfortable manner.  Tasks are usually performed under normal office conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort.  Work area is well-lighted and ventilated.  Conditions may be difficult on itinerary with some irregularity in hours.
