Job Description - Licensed Childcare Director

​​​​​​We are hiring the leader of our licensed childcare division, including the Rec Kids afterschool program, school year vacation camps, and summer day camps. This position is responsible for $2.9M in programs, including 6 afterschool sites with 380 kids in care each day, 12 full-time staff, 200 part-time/seasonal staff, and 6 summer day camps. This person should be an expert in Vermont licensing standards, youth programming, staff training, and working with kids. This person will lead the licensed childcare administrative team, as well as provide direct oversight of four site coordinators who manage three afterschool sites.

PAY/WAGES The pay rate is between $69,519-$78,519 based on experience.

After that, you are only responsible for the next 20%, which is not more than $600 for single plans and no more than $1200 for all other plans for covered medical expenses.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Ensure all programs comply with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Provide professional training for staff development
  • Act as a community liaison and leader for our childcare programs
  • Coordinate with schools and community agencies to enhance program offerings
  • Develop and enforce policies for safe and effective program delivery
  • Maintain state licenses and accreditations
  • Supervise Site Coordinators and support staff
  • Manage budget for assigned programs
  • Market and promote childcare programs through various media
  • Ensure facilities and grounds are properly maintained
  • Participate in professional development opportunities
QUALITIFICATIONS
 Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary or Special Education, Recreation, Social Work, or a related field.
  • At least seven years of experience in a supervisory role in recreation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong background in planning, organizing, and leading youth programs.
  • Knowledge of youth development principles.
  • Experience in child behavior management and positive discipline techniques.
  • Experience in supervision, personnel management, program planning, and training.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Vermont teaching license.
  • Two years of experience in administrative support, recreation programming, or a related activity.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Eligible for Northern Lights Instructor certification.
  • Valid Vermont driver's license and own vehicle.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within one year of employment (preferred).
  • Good driving record.
