INTRODUCTION

We are looking for a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team and provide excellent care to our patients. As a LPN, you will be part of a team of healthcare professionals that is committed to delivering the highest quality of care to our patients. Your primary role is to provide basic nursing care and assist with patient care activities. As a LPN, you will be responsible for monitoring patient vitals, administering medications, providing treatments, and helping with patient education. You must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with a desire to serve our patients and their families with the utmost respect and compassion.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare patient charts and medical records in accordance with LSUHN policies and procedures.
  • Escort patients to examination or procedure rooms; obtain and record vital signs, weight, height, and head circumference as appropriate.
  • Obtain and document patient medical history and chief complaint; assist with physical assessments as directed.
  • Prepare for and assist with exams, procedures, and minor surgeries performed by healthcare providers.
  • Clean and sterilize examination rooms, instruments, and equipment following infection control protocols.
  • Administer injections using aseptic technique; document administration in the patient record using current coding standards (e.g., ICD-10).
  • Collect laboratory specimens and perform basic in-office tests such as dipstick urinalysis and urine pregnancy tests.
  • Call in prescription orders and refills as directed by the provider, following established protocols.
  • Remove sutures or staples as ordered.
  • Promptly notify providers of any abnormal lab or diagnostic results.
  • Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) as needed.
  • Observe and report changes in patients’ conditions, reactions to treatments, or other relevant symptoms; initiate emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Schedule inpatient and outpatient procedures, including surgical appointments.
  • Assist the scheduling department with booking appointments with appropriate providers.
  • Adhere to LSUHN telephone etiquette and communication standards at all times.
  • Support continuity of care through accurate documentation and effective handoffs.
  • Participate in patient education to promote understanding and positive clinical outcomes.
  • Perform additional clinical tasks as delegated and supervised by a licensed provider.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  •  High School Diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of an accredited LPN Program
  • 1-2 Years Hospital or Clinic Experience Preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  •  Current LA LPN license required
  •  Current CPR Certification required.
