Job Description - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Outpatient Oncology

Cancer Care Associates of York is seeking a full- time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dedicated, compassionate nursing team!

What you will be doing...

  • Provide safe, direct and efficient care and services under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or licensed physician.
  • Act as a member of the health care team at an intermediate nursing level to assist in the planning and implementation of patient care based upon sound nursing judgment, clinical preparation, knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Administers intravenous medications and fluids as determined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing under the current scope of practice, General Provisions 2012 21.145 (f) for IV therapy.
  • Obtains blood via venipuncture or sampling from a Central Venous Catheter for lab analysis. Uses appropriate equipment and protocols for collecting, handling, labeling and preparing for transportation to lab including proper identification, storage procedures and techniques.
  • Obtains and analyzes CBC specimens according to procedure manual and as directed by physician orders.
  • Prepares and administers medications which are oral, subcutaneous or intramuscular injections as ordered by a provider.
  • Maintains patient records to ensure accurate documentation of relevant patient care information in electronic clinical record per office policy and procedure.
  • Complies with all practice policies and procedures including CCAY’s Code of Conduct.
  • Practices ethically and in a manner that is congruent with cultural diversity and inclusion principles.

What makes you qualified?

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of accredited LPN program
  • Current licensing as a Practical Nurse as issued by the PA State Board of Nursing
  • Completion of a board-certified education program that provides training for venipuncture and administration of intravenous fluids (IV certification) - preferred
  • CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • 1 – 2 years acute care experience or 3 – 4 years of staff nursing as LPN, preferred
  • IV experience required
