Description

This position is a full-time, permanent onsite non-clinical position within Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance in Columbia, TN.

Responsibilities

Address patient calls and portal messages in a timely manner concerning a wide range of symptom / side effect related topics under the guidance of the MD/RN
Ask appropriate, open-ended questions to assist in the assessment of patient's symptom and side effect management inquiries and documentation of such interventions.
Assess urgency of patient symptoms / side effects and address them appropriately, aggressively managing them to prevent unnecessary emergency department and hospital utilization
Provide clear instruction and education to patients via the telephone
Evaluates and determines if emergency care is needed, or if the patient can be seen in the outpatient clinic and schedule the appointment
Strong patient assessment skills
Collaboration and coordinating with team members (providers, schedulers, nursing staff etc)
Ability to identify patient concerns and symptom related problems through collection of information
Obtain prior authorization for medications
Follow provider orders and protocols for patient care
Faxing documents daily from physicians and triage nurses (e.g. orders, work notes)
Any other tasks deemed necessary by RN
Requirements

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Maintain a professional and empathetic tone while conducting phone calls
You enjoy being a part of a team that works collaboratively to achieve goals
Skilled in verbal communication and patient relations
Preferred

Experience using NextGen
Orthopaedic background with 2-5 years clinical experience
