Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Status: Full-Time, Exempt  
Reports To: Project Director
 

Position Summary

The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) provides mental health and substance use counseling services to individuals living with an opioid use disorder (OUD). The LPC delivers evidence-based, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented clinical interventions to address behavioral health needs, improve functioning, and support recovery goals.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of mental health, substance use, and behavioral health needs for referred individuals living with an OUD. 
• Provide individual, family, and group counseling services utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches and professional counseling standards. 
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on participant needs, strengths, goals, and preferences. 
• Provide counseling interventions addressing mental health conditions, substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and recovery needs. 
• Collaborate with medical providers, case managers, peer support specialists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care. 
• Perform other duties as assigned to support successful program implementation. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling. 
• Current Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) license in the State of Texas in good standing required. 
• Experience providing counseling services to individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of evidence-based counseling practices, substance use treatment approaches, crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and behavioral health recovery models. 
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain professional and ethical standards.  

Working Conditions

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening hours based on participant availability. 
• Work is performed in office.
