Support Recovery and Transformation as a Licensed Substance Abuse Associate

At State of the Heart Recovery, we are committed to providing comprehensive behavioral health treatment services focused on substance use disorders. The Licensed Substance Abuse Associate (LSAA) plays a crucial role in assessing client needs, developing treatment plans, and delivering individual and group therapeutic interventions grounded in evidence-based practices. Our LSAA works collaboratively with a dedicated team of professionals to foster recovery, resilience, and reintegration into the community.

This position involves working with individuals experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health challenges. The LSAA provides support in achieving recovery goals, conducting assessments, facilitating group therapy, and engaging clients in various therapeutic activities. A commitment to trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and ethical practice is essential to effectively support clients along their recovery journeys.

What You Will Do

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify clients' substance use challenges, mental health needs, and support resources.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individual treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of clients.
  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions employing evidence-based methods and approaches to recovery.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure integrated care and service continuity.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support, referring clients to additional services when necessary.
  • Engage clients in goal-setting and recovery planning while promoting self-efficacy and personal responsibility.
  • Document client progress and maintain accurate, up-to-date records in compliance with state, federal, and agency guidelines.
  • Participate in supervision and continuous professional development to maintain licensure and enhance skills.
  • Perform outreach and engagement activities to connect with at-risk populations.
  • Participate in the development and facilitation of psychoeducational workshops and support groups.
  • Uphold and promote ethical conduct and confidentiality standards in all interactions.

What You Will Bring

  • Current New Mexico Licensed Substance Abuse Associate (LSAA) certification.
  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience providing substance abuse treatment, preferably within a clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic practices for substance use and co-occurring disorders.
  • Valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance are required for client transport.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health records management.
  • Familiarity with community resources and support services related to substance use and mental health preferred.
  • Experience with motivational interviewing and relapse prevention techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Strong communication skills, including active listening and conflict resolution.
  • Commitment to maintaining ethical standards and confidentiality throughout all professional interactions.
