Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our nursing team on a per-diem basis at our facility in Waelder, TX.

This is a flexible opportunity for a nurse who wants to bring clinical expertise to a small, close-knit team supporting people through substance use recovery and to be part of why quality SUD treatment exists in rural TX.

About the Company

Banyan Treatment Centers is a leading national provider of intensive treatment for individuals facing substance use and mental health disorders. Backed by TPG’s Rise Fund, Banyan is rapidly expanding access to high-quality, compassionate care.

Why Join Banyan Treatment Centers?

Waelder and the surrounding communities deserve the same quality of SUD care found in bigger cities. As an LVN here, you'll be part of making that possible — bringing skilled, compassionate treatment right to the community that needs it.

As an LVN, you will:

  • Join a mission-driven, Joint Commission–accredited organization with the stability, resources, and reach of a national provider — serving a rural Texas community that counts on us.

  • Work with real backup, not just on paper — our Director of Nursing works nightshifts when needed and leads by example, so you're never navigating high-acuity moments alone.

  • Practice across the full continuum of SUD care — from detox through outpatient levels of care at a facility ASAM-certified at Levels 3.5 and 3.7

  • Work within a right-sized, 40 + bed facility where you can build genuine relationships with patients and colleagues, not get lost in a large or impersonal system.

  • Work per-diem, as-needed shifts — flexibility to pick up work around your schedule while still doing meaningful clinical work.

  • Keep your license current with CEUs that count toward re-licensure and CPR training provided at no cost to you.

  • Grow professionally in SUD nursing, building skills in assessment, crisis intervention, and collaborative treatment planning.

  • Bring your whole background to the work — whether you come from acute care, detox, or medical-surgical nursing, or bring lived experience with recovery, it's valued here (though not required).

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team committed to high-quality, trauma-informed SUD care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, including ASAM forms

  • Provide routine nursing care at various levels of care

  • Identify treatment needs and integrate findings into collaborative, measurable treatment plans

  • Complete nursing documentation in accordance with facility and state requirements

  • Review medication logs and assist the medical department with a variety of tasks

  • Administer medications as directed by the medical provider

  • Facilitate medication education for patients

  • Collaborate with patients, families, and referral sources on progress updates and post-discharge planning

  • Apply clinical judgment in crisis situations, including risk assessments and de-escalation

  • Build rapport and trust with patients through strong interpersonal skills

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active LVN license in Texas

  • Nursing degree/diploma from an accredited school of nursing

  • Strong assessment and organizational skills

  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication abilities

  • Ability to maintain objectivity and empathy in patient interactions

  • Adherence to the Healthcare Code of Ethics

  • Knowledge of state and federal confidentiality regulations

Preferred:

  • Experience in substance use disorder treatment, acute care, or detox settings

  • Familiarity with KIPU EMR system

  • Personal or professional familiarity with the local recovery community; lived experience is valued but not required

Perks of Per-Diem:

  • Flexible, as-needed scheduling that works around your life

  • CEUs that count toward licensure renewal

  • CPR training provided
