Job Description - Licensed/Waivered Mental Health Clinician

Job Title: Licensed/Waivered Mental Health Clinician 
Department: Behavioral Health Services 
Location: Willits, CA
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt/Exempt
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: Waivered Non-Exempt $76,440.00/Licensed Exempt $89,544.00 (DOE) / Additional Differentials Must Qualify
Open Date: August 19, 2025

Pay Differentials Offered (must qualify through testing or verification):



  • Language Translation - Bi-cultural Spanish: $1.00 per hour

  • Bimodal Bilingualism - ASL Sign Language: $1.00 per hour

  • Bimodal Multilingualism - ASL Sign Language: $2.00 per hour


Overview:
Performs professional level counseling services including managing cases, initiating crisis management, and conducting therapy sessions. The Clinician works closely with county social workers, parents and team members, consulting and collaborating on client’s progress and treatment plans. The Clinician may work, consistent with their scope of practice, within ANY RCS programs on an as needed basis.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Performs counseling and psychotherapy functions including answering crisis calls; talking with patients, one on one, identifying problems and assisting patients in reaching goals; conducting evaluations and assessments; providing ongoing supportive therapy; conducting group therapy sessions; presenting findings; and intervening during patient crisis.

  • Interviews and evaluates client for admittance; determines if client has potential to harm self or others, as assigned.

  • Follows the State Mental Health and County Mental Health guidelines for any service being provided.

  • Provides authorized services only, unless directed by the Clinical Director or supervisor to provide additional unauthorized service.

  • Completes progress notes and reports and logs according to stated mental health policy and procedures.  Self-audits record before submitting to the billing or QA person.


Education and/or Experience                                               



  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology or related field; and,

    • One to two years of progressively responsible experience; or,



  • A combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.


Licenses and Certifications:



  • Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (or)

  • Associate Clinical Social Worker and

  • Current registration with Board of Behavioral Sciences (or)

  • Fully eligible for registration with Board of Behavioral Sciences (or)

  • An intern in a PhD. or Psy D. Program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or Western Association of Schools and Colleges, which would, upon successful completion, lead to licensure by the California Board of Psychology.


Conditions of Employment:



  • May work across all agency programs as needed.

  • Occasional flexible work schedule required to meet individual client needs.

  • Must possess a valid CA Driver’s License, current auto insurance, and a clean DMV printout (no more than 3 points).

  • This position requires the use of a personal vehicle for business purposes. Employees must maintain liability insurance that meets or exceeds the state’s requirements.

  • Must pass a clear background check with DOJ, CACI, FBI, CCL.

  • CPR and First Aid Certified.

  • TB Exam and Physical at the time of employment.


Driving Requirement:
This position requires the use of a personal vehicle for business purposes and on-call rotation. 


Other Requirements:



  • Driving is a required function of this position. Employees must use a personal vehicle that meet all agency requirements, including maintaining liability insurance that meets or exceeds state requirements.

  • Employees are responsible for ensuring the timely renewal of their vehicle insurance policies and providing updated documentation to the agency to remain in good standing and compliant with position requirements.


Training Provided:



  • RCS provides an in-depth onboarding and training orientation, which includes CPR/First Aid, Crisis Communication/Pro-ACT, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Collaborative Problem Solving, introductions to all RCS departments, and other valuable trainings.
