Role Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and creative Life Enrichment Assistant to join our activities and programming team. You will work under the direction of the Life Enrichment Director to plan and facilitate daily activities, events, and therapeutic programming for assisted living and memory care residents. You will build genuine relationships with residents, honor their life stories, and design engagement opportunities that reflect their individual interests, abilities, and backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead daily group and one-on-one activities for assisted living and memory care residents including arts and crafts, music programs, reminiscence therapy, sensory activities, gentle exercise, gardening, games, and social events


• Assist the Life Enrichment Director in developing and maintaining a monthly activity calendar that reflects residents' individual interests, care plans, and therapeutic goals


• Document resident participation, mood, and response to programming in accordance with state regulations and facility policies


• Build meaningful, trust-based relationships with residents by learning their life histories, personal preferences, and interests


• Facilitate special events including holiday celebrations, birthday parties, family engagement events, and community outreach programs


• Transport residents to and from activity spaces safely using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility equipment as needed


• Collaborate with nursing, dietary, social services, and family members to ensure activity programming supports each resident's overall care plan


• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming activity space with appropriately stocked supplies

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; degree in Recreation Therapy, Social Work, Gerontology, Psychology, or related field preferred


• Minimum 1 year of experience working with older adults in a senior living, memory care, adult day program, or similar setting


• Genuine passion for serving seniors and ability to connect meaningfully with individuals who have cognitive impairments


• Understanding of person-centered care and dementia-friendly programming principles


• Strong creative skills with experience planning and facilitating group activities


• Ability to work a consistent schedule including some evenings and weekends as needed


• Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• CTRS credential or progress toward certification


• Experience with memory care programming models such as Teepa Snow's Positive Approach to Care or Montessori-based activities


• Proficiency with EHR systems for activity documentation


• Musical ability, art instruction, horticultural therapy background, or other specialized enrichment skills


• Bilingual in English and Spanish

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly wage: $17.00 to $21.00 depending on experience


• Full-time, 40 hours per week with consistent scheduling
