Job Description - Life Skills Center - Assistant Manager

Description

SUMMARY:

This position provides care, supervision and training for consumers within F.I.’s Group Day Supports and Activities Program at the Life Skills Center. Performance of duties reflects Flathead Industries’ Mission of “Creating Opportunities for People with Disabilities”. This position works in a team setting and reports to the Lead Staff of Life Skills Center.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Be flexible to work at either side of The Life Skills Center, with an occasional assignment to Kalispell Thrift when needed.
  • Participate in routine operations, which includes supervising consumers at the work site or in the community and assist as needed in daily activities and personal care, picking up and delivery of materials, handling financial transactions, minor facility maintenance and cleaning at the Life Skills Center.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Flathead Industries training sequence, which includes First-Aid, CPR, MANDT(management of non-aggressive adults with disabilities), Accuflo E-Learning, PSP 101, Foundations, Chaperone and/or Customer service training. In addition must obtain State mandated Medication Certification, and College of Direct Supports.
  • Complete two of the three offered paths in Flathead Industries Phase 2 training sequence(Personal Care, Employment Services and/or Behavioral Health).
  • Complete Phase 3 training sequence in Flathead Industries Career Paths (e.g. online courses train the trainer, Financials 101, FRISK, Five Dysfunctions, Dialectical Behavior Training etc…)
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of the habilitation process, policies and procedures for DPHHS-DDP Habilitation training, principles of community integration and normalization, and techniques of non-aversive training acquired through completion of identified sections of in-house training programs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in completing required PSP paperwork for assigned consumers(e.g. Assessments, PSP updates, Release of Information’s, Creation of Action’s andAction Plans, Creation and implementation of Daily Checklist, Development andImplementation of Protocols, Post PSP packet etc.) Attend and present at consumerPSP meetings as assigned, to include following all required timelines. Collect, record and analyze program data for consumers. Record and analyze periodic case notes.
  • Mentor and train assigned DSP 2’s in all PSP requirements, appointments and other areas as assigned.
  • Intervene, re-focus individuals, and direct others in order to mitigate behavioral concerns and issues at the work/activities site.
  • Complete and/or oversee all paperwork required by Flathead Industries, the State of Montana and the Developmental Disability Program (DDP), for example work shift logs, medication administration records, t-logs, GER’s and follows all protocols for specific individuals.
  • Participate in providing safety training to consumers. Observe all safety rules and follow safe job procedures.Maintains clean and safe working environment in facility to which assigned, participate in regular facilitymaintenance schedules, fire drills and follows and ensures compliance to corporate safety policies.
  • Implementation and performance of DOL sub-minimum wage certificate requirements including job analysis, timings, etc.
  • Cope with stressful circumstances and cordially interact with coworkers as a member of a team.
  • Communicate information effectively, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrate good customer service skills when working with the general public.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining working relationships with families, guardians and advocates of the consumers, with neighborhood residents, and with representatives of public service agencies.
  • Exhibit and practice good work habits, including honesty, punctuality and the ability to organize and manage time and information.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance of assigned facility and services to standards prescribed by Flathead Industries, the State Department of Public Health and Human Services, and any and all licensing agencies.
  • Basic operation of a computer, e.g. documentation, word processing, spreadsheet usage,general email and internet accessing, as well as performing basic mathematical computations forindividual financial transactions and calculation of training program data summaries, balance pettycash fund and count money, etc.
  • Operate corporation vehicles to provide transportation to consumers, as well as safely operate wheelchair lifts and strap systems to ensure safety of all consumers receiving transportation.
  • Arranges and ensures documentation in the day activities billing process. Assists in providing supervision of consumers in alternative sites. All applicable paperwork is filled out.
  • Attends all relevant behavioral team meetings, including assessment or individual meetings, per caseload assigned.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs., as well as lift to/from floor to/from shoulder level.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • The position requires education and experience equivalent to a high schooldiploma, completion of occupationally-specific training and 6 months experiencein working with adults with developmental disabilities or similar field.
  • Ability to pass criminal and other background checks.
  • Valid Montana Driver's License, maintenance of a good driving record, and insurability for operation of company vehicles.
  • Successfully complete Phase 1 and 2 of Flathead Industries Career Path Trainings.
  • Ability to successfully perform all responsibilities shown above.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional, effective, harmonious, working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with stakeholders, including but not limited to staff, consumers, family members, medical professionals and community members.
  • Ability to show critical thinking and positive decision-making skills.
  • Ability to safely and frequently lift, move or otherwise handle items weighing 25 pounds.
  • Ability to process information, effectively utilize necessary computer software, and navigate your way around a computer.
  • Ability to write clearly and speak in public. Must be capable of giving, receiving, interpreting, and applying verbal and/or written instructions and directions
