You must have a valid driver's license in good standing and an excellent driving record. You must also be able to pass random hair follicle drug testing that includes testing for marijuana. This role also requires background checks every 2 years. 

Hiring Range

The hiring range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00 p/hour. This is the pay scale range Caltrol reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary based on geographic region, skills, qualifications, and experience of the candidate along with the requirements of the position.

What you'll be doing:

• Conduct on-site and in-shop repairs of valves, actuators, and instrumentation in the Caltrol shop(s) or at customer sites in the field ensuring timely and efficient service delivery.


• Document testing processes and equipment repairs, including preparation of repair reports to maintain accurate records. 


• Inspect, evaluate, and verify accuracy of assembled units for conformance to standards and customer requirements, ensuring high quality workmanship.


• Accurately report working hours to ensure pay, billing, and processing of jobs in a timely manner. 


• Interact with customers providing service excellence. 


• Collaborate closely with assigned Outage Managers and Repair Coordinators. 


• Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times and strict adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 


• Stay current on all training, classes and certifications needed to access customer facilities ensuring compliance with all required standards. 

What we're looking for:

• High school diploma


• 3+ years' working in a similar field or 2 years as a Caltrol level I technician. 


• Strong understanding of valves, actuators, and instrumentation.


• Knowledge of hand tools, cranes, and forklifts.


• Strong mechanical knowledge/competency.


• Ability to efficiently use software including Word, Outlook, and Excel. 


• Experience working on Gate Valves, Swing Checks, or Sempell Isolation Valves in the field.


• Must be able to acquire a TWIC card within 60 days of hire. 


• Ability to pass yearly vision test for welding. 


• Must be able to stay active on ASAP/DISA background and drug screening.


• Must possess and maintain a Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.


• Ability to travel heavily locally. 


• Available for emergencies to assist our customers. 

Preferred: 

• Knowledge of Competitor valves such as Masoneilan, Flowserve, CCI, etc.., and ability to repair competitors' valves.


• Certification in Emerson Level I or Level II, Instrumentation, or any control or isolation valves.

Work schedule: 

Typical shop hours are 6:30am – 3:00pm Monday through Friday. Regular overtime is expected, sometimes with little to no notice. During outage seasons, employee may work over 60 hours, including weekends.

Travel

Road warrior. Ability to travel out of town/state for work up to 40% of the year. Heavy local travel. This position involves travel to various Caltrol, Emerson and customer sites. Some overnight travel required.

Physical Demands: 

• Must be able to wear maximum level of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction which may include but is not limited to hardhat; safety glasses; fire resistant clothing; safety-toed footwear; hearing protection; respiratory protection, etc.


• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.


• Must be able to walk and stand 8 hours per day.


• Frequent climbing, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping.


• Hazards: Potential exposure to chemicals. Proximity to moving mechanical and mobile equipment.


• Must be able to work outside in varying environmental conditions.


• Ability to understand and safely use standard hand tools.
