SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of all Snowbasin aerial, conveyor, and cable tow lifts.
The Level I Mechanic will assist with general year round ski lift maintenance. Opening and closing lifts and maintaining efficient and reliable lift operations while becoming familiar with ANSI, UPRSC, and Forest Service regulations.
The Level II Mechanic has the skills and experience necessary to maintain most lift-related equipment. Intermediate level mechanics are responsible for properly training Entry Level mechanics, have a good understanding of most lift systems and are familiar with ANSI, UPRSC, Forest Service and OSHA regulations. Mechanic should also possess good trouble shooting skills including reading schematics, volt/ohm meter use (24V) and identifying mechanical abnormalities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):
EQUIPMENT USED: Lift mechanics regularly use hand tools such as wrenches, ratchets, grinders, drills, presses, cable and chain hoists and various other maintenance equipment. Specialty tools such as alignment gauges, slip testers and brake torque test tools. Rigging with wire rope, slings, and pulleys. Pickup Trucks, four-wheelers and snowmobiles are used daily for transportation.
RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:
QUALIFICATIONS: 18 yrs. or older
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: None required / 4 yrs. industry experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None required. NDT Level II, Class 4 & 7 Lift Truck and welding certifications are highly recommended.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: Lift mechanics should be comfortable working at heights. He/she will be expected to work outside during inclement weather conditions year-round. Should be physically capable of heavy lifting to shoulder height up to 100lbs. Ski/snowboarding skills are necessary for traveling to lifts and lift towers. Snowmobile and four-wheeler operating skills are ideal. Due to the complexity of work and the risks involved good teamwork and communication skills are necessary.
