POSITION TITLE: Limited-Term Policy Analyst
REPORTS TO: State Policy Director
LOCATION: This position is Oregon-based. Currently, most staff work virtually from home; however, they are required to occasionally attend in-person meetings at our offices in Kiln Coworking Space, located at 1120 SE Madison St, Portland, OR 97214. OCJ’s standard work schedule is between 8 AM and 5 PM Pacific, with flexibility available. Willingness and ability to occasionally work evenings and/or weekends are required.
SALARY RANGE: $6,107 - $9,771 monthly

ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Oregon Consumer Justice (OCJ) Policy Analyst is a key member of the policy team, supporting policy development and legislative work through research, analysis, and development of written materials on consumer justice topics. The Policy Analyst, in collaboration with the policy team, will support the development of policies and materials to implement OCJ's 2027 legislative agenda. The Policy Analyst works in a highly collaborative environment, requiring communication and coordination with other members of the OCJ team and external partners. Their work primarily centers on state policy issues but may also include some federal policy. The position is a limited-duration position, expected to start in September 2026 and end on June 30, 2027.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE:

The Policy Analyst does not have supervisory responsibility.
INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS
The Policy Analyst primarily works independently but also has the opportunity to coordinate with members of the policy team and community partners. The person in this position also has the opportunity to present information in a wide range of settings.

Our hiring process is set up to move quickly; however, it can span from just a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on the organization's work and the availability of staff to support our robust process. We will communicate our timing expectations throughout. In select roles, examples of previously created work samples may be requested along with other application materials.
Candidates who advance to interview rounds can anticipate a brief phone screen and up to three conversations with various OCJ staff members and stakeholders. OCJ will send interview questions to each candidate a day in advance.
